Indigenous self-determination & BHP Foundation

Published on July 6, 2023

The BHP Foundation partners with Indigenous organizations and local communities in many parts of the world to actively support self-determination. Since 2017, the Foundation has invested over A$70 million (US$52 million) in projects run by Indigenous organizations and local communities in many parts of the world.

In a recent article on the BHP Foundation blog, the Foundation talks about several of the Indigenous and community-led projects they support around the world, including Ampliseed members the Indigenous Desert Alliance and the 10 Deserts Project in Australia, First Nations engagement in forest management planning in Canada's Boreal Forest Project, and the work of the Awajun Indigenous Communities in Alto Mayo through a partnership with Conservation International.
